Story: During the 70's and 80's Jay constantly found himself moving from city to city in what always seemed to him as a pointless nomadic trend. This lack of stability in his early years would prove to be the seed of Jay's resourcefulness that would eventually germinate into his musical creativity. The origin of his fascination with music is blurry because Jay never confined himself to any specific genre, but one thing is certain throughout this lifelong pilgrimage, the songs were always there. Whether it was jamming to his Uncle Fred's vinyl, break dancing to "Jam-on-it," lip syncing to "shot in the dark," learning the lyrics to the "Beastie Boys," or heading to the Reynosa club circuit for some new wave dance jams Jay was blessed to have harmony in all facets of his youth.

Always absorbed with music Jay decided to take the next step and started a band with his childhood friends Sergio Lomas and Leo Murillo, which began strictly as a Jr. High air band but later evolved into what would be Frameshift. Due to a deprived economical situation, most of the early learning was done on an old Peavey guitar acquired by Sergio, and it wasn't until Jays 16th birthday did he receive his first bass. It was a red Arbor bass with a broken tuning peg that seemed clumsy and almost out of place as its young master. It was here in the latter part of the 20th century where Jay endured the most intense training not only in music, but also in the "weir ding ways" of life. This forging of a human spirit released an emotion that many people never experience and created a bond that would forever guide him past the callous trials and arduous monotony of everyday life.

Many say it was during these years that Jay approached the peak of his art, but to those close to him comment that he has just begun to explore his potential with the creation of Static Limit and through continuing self-edification and formal institutional instruction. Coupled with need to analyze movie soundtracks and willingness to learn methods of the recording arts, Jay expands his love and understanding of music through the behavior of sound.

Nowadays, Jay looks forward to working on the upcoming Static Limit CD and further exploration of the band. This will definitely bring many ups and downs, but whatever adventure may lie ahead he is forever dedicated and always faithful to the frequency.
