Story: It was a hot day in February way back in 1972 when a little Mexican hospital heard my first cry. Even though we were living here in the USA, my parents were dirt poor at the time, so they couldn't afford a hospital here. A year later (Feb. 11th - exact same day) my sister was born and soon after we moved to Houston where my other sister was born three years later (Feb. 7th - ooh that was close!). When I was nine, my parents got divorced. It used to be that being from a single-parent home was strange. Now it seems to be the norm. My dad raised me and my two sisters in Houston 'till 1986, when we moved back to south Texas, or the "Valley" as it's affectionately called.

We literally made the major move from Houston to the Valley the weekend before high school was to start. Needless to say, my sisters and I were less than thrilled. As I would later find though, everything happens for a reason.

I learned a lot about people during my high school years. It seemed everyone had pretty much cookie-cutter lives planned out. Graduate high school, go to college, get a career, get married, raise a family, die. Well, I wasn't so willing to go through the same boring routine as everyone else, so a week after graduating high school, I joined the Air Force. I didn't know what job I would have once there or where I would be stationed and frankly, I didn't care. I wanted to be like a leaf in the wind - wherever the breeze took me would be fine by me.

I wouldn't be in Static Limit if I hadn't made that decision, for it was while I was in the Air Force that I met my lifelong friend and current bandmate, Jay.

Jay and I both worked at the hospital on base and we quickly became close friends. I soon discovered that he played bass in a band that was missing a drummer. "Hey, I play drums" I told him, even though "play drums" consisted of air drumming and multiple 5-minute disasters at local music stores. It was fate. Jay and the rest of the band had plenty of material written, so I had to prove myself worthy of their writing prowess. Enter Master of Puppets. "Learn this song" the guys told me, so that the next time Jay and I were on leave, we had something to jam with. After passing the gauntlet of Metallica tunes and short improvs on some of their original songs, I was in like sin. The band, (OK. Here's where it gets weird. I never, even to this day, ever learned how to spell the name of our first band. I don't think anyone except the guitarist knew. Regardless, it was a shitty name and I've always hated it.) was named Akeldema(sp? See what I mean?). That became Psyclone which led to FrameShift which led to Static Limit. If you really want to know me, invite me to some sushi and we could have a nice long chat about music, movies, philosophy, art or life.

I'm happily married and have two beautiful daughters. We have a pet ball python and a great dog. Life is good.
